tasks to sell and demonstrate beauty or cosmetic products. They follow known routines and
procedures and work under direct supervision.
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a retail sales consultant in any business that
sells beauty or cosmetic products and services. This can include beauty and hairdressing
salons, retail outlets and department stores.

Be at least 18 years of age.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine your suitability for the course and your support needs.
Students must have a reasonable level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN)skills, for example, to read materials relevant to the course, participate in discussions and roleplays and apply numerical skills to perform a range of work related calculations. This will be tested through an LLN assessment as part of the enrolment process. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 2 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course. This will be tested through the course entry process and an online assessment, for which you will be sent a link.
This qualification will be delivered over 49 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and
assessment spread over 4 terms of 10 weeks. There is also 9 weeks of holidays. Holidays
are 3 weeks per term.
Class sessions are planned to ensure that students have a mixture of practical and
theoretical components and those classes cater for a wide variety of learning styles.
Additionally, workplace practices and environments are simulated and used to conduct skills
based assessments in accordance with unit requirements.
This qualification is offered on the following days and times:
Monday and Tuesday 9 am to 4.30 pm
Wednesday 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm
This course will be delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting which includes the
simulation of workplace based environment.

Students who complete this course may wish to further their study into into a range of hairdressing and beauty qualifications at Certificate III level or above.
Upon acceptance of a student’s application for enrolment, a letter of offer, as well as a written
agreement and tax invoice for remaining fees, will be forwarded to students. Students will
need to read all provided information as it will provide all necessary information about the
course of study. An enrolment confirmation will be issued once the signed acceptance of the
offer and written agreement are received.

The SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics requires the successful completion of ten
(10) core units and five (5) elective units. Electives for this qualification have been chosen by
Excel College Australia to ensure that students achieve a broad range of skills and
