This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide responsible gambling services, and to assist those customers who have issues with problem gambling.
Responsible gambling services must be provided wherever gambling activities are undertaken. Responsible provision of gambling services is an essential underpinning skill for all hospitality personnel involved in the sale and service of gambling activities in licensed premises, including the licensee, gaming supervisors and gaming managers when involved in operational gambling activities. This course is suitable for new entrants who require training in responsible conduct of gambling.

Excel College Australia has the following entry requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine your suitability for the course
and your support needs.
Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills, for example, to be able to read the training materials and write assessment tasks. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 2 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course. This will be tested through the course entry process and an online assessment, for which you will be sent a link.
This course is offered through self-paced study and classroom training. The total time commitment is 6 hours of self-paced study prior to the completion of 1 day (8 hours) of classroom training and assessment. Class sessions are planned to ensure that students have a mixture of practical and theoretical components and those classes cater for a wide variety of learning styles. Additionally, workplace practices and environments are simulated and used to conduct skills based assessments in accordance with unit requirements.
This qualification is offered on the following days and times:
Thursdays 9 am to 5.30 pm
This course will be delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting which includes the
simulation of workplace based environment.

The unit SITHGAM001 Provide responsible gambling services is included in many qualifications within Training Packages. Therefore, a statement of attainment for this units can be used as credit for a range of qualifications.
Upon acceptance of a student’s application for enrolment, a letter of offer, as well as a written
agreement and tax invoice for remaining fees, will be forwarded to students. Students will
need to read all provided information as it will provide all necessary information about the
course of study. An enrolment confirmation will be issued once the signed acceptance of the
offer and written agreement are received.

All students will be provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help

Students are required to attend a class of 8 hours and complete 6 hours of self-paced learning and assessment prior to the class. Timetable information will be provided in the student’s Letter of Offer and Student agreement. The self-paced learning and assessment will involve reviewing a learner guide required for the course and then completing written questions. On enrolment, you will be provided with the learner guide and written test. Your trainer/assessor will contact you two weeks prior to course commencement to check that you are ready to be assessed on the self-paced component, which you must then complete at least one week prior to the face-to-face training. You will need to successfully complete this component before attending the face-to-face training. Your assessment will be marked upon receipt and your assessor will advise you the following day whether you have been successful. If not, your assessor will discuss the re-assessment process with you.
